OVERUSE OF PRESCRIPTION OPIOD MEDICATION TO ADDRESS PAIN HAS RESULTED IN AN EPIDEMIC CRISIS FOR AVERAGE AMERICANS
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC), more people died from drug overdoses in 2014 than in any year on record. The majority of drug overdose deaths (more than six out of ten) involve an opioid.*
THE DANGERS OF PAIN MANAGEMENT THROUGH DRUGS
Medical providers today face an unusual challenge, to help their patients address chronic, often severe pain, while protecting them from possible abuse, overdose, and/or addiction. Since 1999, the number of overdose deaths involving opioids (including prescription opioid pain relievers and heroin) nearly quadrupled. From 2000 to 2014 nearly half a million people died from drug overdoses. 78 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose.
In the past 15 years, the amount of prescription opioids sold in the U.S. nearly quadrupled, yet there has not been an overall change in the amount of pain that Americans report. Deaths from prescription opioids—drugs like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone—have also quadrupled in that same period.
It’s only a matter of time. Lawsuits filed against drug manufacturers, more frequently due to the negative societal impact resulting from widespread prescribing / overprescribing of opioid medications are on the rise, so much so, that manufacturers now budget a high percentage of the cost to continue to sell these medications toward the resolution of lawsuits they know will follow. As a medical provider, you may soon be the target of such lawsuits, as a cog in the negligent overmedication machinery. Seeking new ways to effectively treat debilitating pain that don’t involve drugs or the risks of major surgery, should be of great concern.
At LASR® Clinics International, our entire focus is to effectively treat even the most severe back, neck and joint pain cases, whether the result of natural degeneration or injury, WITHOUT the use of harmful drugs or surgery. When we say, “No Surgery, No drugs, No Joke” it’s exactly what we mean.
In the 10 years our practice has pioneered our revolutionary LASR® Therapy procedures, more than 85% of our patients have experienced a 50% or greater DECREASE in their level of pain from the time they entered the clinic to the completion of a standard therapy regimen (20 sessions over a five week period). Those very patients entered the clinic with an average pain level of 7.5 or higher on a scale from 1 to 10 (with 10 being the highest amount of pain possible), and by the end of their treatment regimen at the exit interview, reported a pain level of 2.5 or lower using the same scale.
By referring your patients who are experiencing back, neck or joint pain to LASR® Clinics International, you’re not just helping them achieve lasting freedom from their debilitating pain instead of treating it with dangerous pain medication only, you’re acting ethically on their behalf as their trusted medical provider.
As physicians, injury and accident patients with back or neck trauma can be some of the most difficult cases to manage. Many of these patients tend to have chronic conditions. Other than medication and physical therapy, there is often little more you, their physician, can do to relieve pain and restore quality of life short of serious invasive procedures, including open back or neck surgery.
Additionally, we often find these patients addicted to long-term analgesics or narcotics. In fact, back and neck pain sufferers are the patients that are most often seen in hospital emergency rooms with "drug seeking" behavior. This is a great liability for the patient, as well as for you, the physician.
At LASR Clinics International, our medical team and physical rehabilitation staff are here to help you with these difficult patients. You can be comforted to know that we do accept liens from attorneys for personal injury patients.
We encourage and appreciate referrals from medical professionals like yourself. Your referrals are handled with the utmost care and concern, and our wait times for appointments are very low.
We work closely with every referring physician and their patient to ensure the highest quality care at our facility, from start to finish.
If you have one or more patients with back, neck or joint pain that are potential candidates for surgery, and you wish to explore an alternative to surgery or continued medication, we will happily accept your referral:
